The Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH) is a UK-based non-profit membership organization that will host their annual conference this year in Bournemouth from November 11-13, 2025. The conference theme this year is Simulation for Impact: Culture, Co-Production, and Creativity. ASPiH comprises professionals from the fields of healthcare, education, and patient safety from across the UK and Ireland. These members include researchers, learning technologists, workforce development managers, education managers, administrators, healthcare staff, simulation technicians, and students. Members of ASPiH tend to have a genuine interest in both new and innovative methods of learning and wish to optimize the use of available clinical simulation resources across their work. As a proud media partner, this article by HealthySimulation.com Content Manager Dr. Teresa Gore will provide an overview of the upcoming conference: ASPiH 2025 – Clinical Simulation for Impact.
ASPiH Annual Conference This November
ASPiH’s annual conference is now established as a leading meeting in the UK and Ireland for all healthcare professionals involved in simulation-based activities, which includes educators, simulation operations technologists, commercial partners, researchers, patient safety and human factor experts, workforce development and education managers, commissioners, and healthcare staff and students. The purpose of the ASPiH conference is to advance the discipline of SBE and provide an innovative scientific program for colleagues and experts to share and disseminate best practices in relation to simulation activities in health and social care settings. To achieve this goal, the conference offers delegates formal and informal networking opportunities through special interest groups, professional meetings, and social programs, which provide a forum for interaction.
The forum was established to gather and discuss the perspectives of recognized experts, as well as to engage in workshops, sessions, and courses. During the forum, participants will have the opportunity to present their work through various formats. At the event, attendees can view products and interact with vendors from leading medical simulation companies.

Why Should You Attend ASPiH 2025?
Healthcare Simulation professionals should attend ASPiH 2025 for their professional development and to promote a culture of continuous learning. Healthcare simulation is an ever-changing field that requires simulationists to learn and adapt to new technologies and research findings to develop high-quality simulation-based experiences for their learners. ASPiH 2025 offers a return on investment (ROI) to stay current and enhance evidence-based practices. This occurs through the numerous networking opportunities provided at the conference, which enhance healthcare simulation professionals’ motivation and engagement. This is the time to connect with like-minded professionals and recharge oneself to continue to grow in impact and effectiveness in healthcare simulation. Other reasons to attend are:
- Meet and network with around 800 simulation practitioners who are key players, influencers, and decision-makers in simulation-based education and training.
- Engage with our largest exhibition hall yet – with over 50 exhibitors showcasing innovations in healthcare simulation.
- See the launch of new products and programmes in the Innovation Space and spend time with our plenary speakers who will run a Q&A in this Space.
- Be seen alongside your industry peers and competitors to confirm your organization’s status in the simulation-based education marketplace.
- Take a prime position at the largest gathering of simulation-based education and technology-enhanced learning professionals in the UK and Ireland.

ASPiH X-Perience Workshops Pre-Conference
The Debriefing Academy Online pre-conference workshop: “Digging Beneath the Surface – Optimizing Circular Questions and Advocacy Inquiry in Healthcare Simulation Debriefing. This session is limited to a maximum of 24 participants. In this pre-conference course, participants will be introduced to two key conversational strategies to promote focused facilitation during debriefing: circular questions and advocacy inquiry. Faculty will highlight the role of the three key goals of focused facilitation – uncover rationale, explore understanding, close performance gaps – and describe how circular questions and advocacy inquiry can be utilized to address these goals.
In addition to the online pre-conference workshop, there are multiple opportunities to attend in-person X-Perience Workshops at ASPiH 2025. These include:
- Keeping it real: Real people within simulation
- Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) Simulation Faculty Development Day
- Writing retreat with editors-in-chief of healthcare simulation journals
- Advancing Human Factors in Transformative Simulation: A Collaborative Research Approach
- Debriefing for Transformative Simulation: A Collaborative Research Approach
- Empowering Healthcare: Addressing Vulnerabilities and Inequalities in Mental Health and Maternity through Co-production in Simulation (½ day session: morning)
- Enhancing Integrated Care Through Sequential Simulation: A Coproduced Exploration of Emergency Medicine, Primary Care, and Paediatrics (½ day session: afternoon)
Keynote Speakers
Peter Dieckmann, PhD, Dipl-Psych, Psychodrama Director, will be the Keynote Speaker and discuss “Exploring Simulation as Social Practice.” Simulation is a social practice- human beings interact with each other, various devices, and concepts in a goal-oriented manner. There have been tremendous advancements in simulation practice, and studies show that it can have a positive impact on patients’ lives. However, the use of simulation remains limited and is spreading only slowly from acute care situations in hospitals to more interaction-based care outside of hospitals, such as municipalities. What is focused on, how it is approached, and what is overlooked are the results of decisions made by stakeholders in the field. This lecture takes a step back from practice to explore how different stakeholders determine what is simulated, and how these simulations are interpreted in debriefings.
Dr Marvin Jansen is the Head of the Clinical Skills Centre, Director of African Simulation Network, University of Cape TownH Simulation Network, University of Cape Town. Dr Jansen’s keynote address will explore the concept of Ubuntu in Simulation: Because we are all connected.
Dr Lise Brogaard works in the Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. Dr Brogaard’s keynote address will challenge simulationsists to develop and implement high-impact simulations through sharing examples from their own practice, which have been shown to transform teamwork within obstetric emergencies. Dr Brogaard will use instances from their practice to demonstrate how simulation has been used to translate high-stakes practice to high-impact learning in the delivery room.
