Abstract:

Simulation Operations Specialists (SOSs) are vital to the success of healthcare simulation programs, yet their roles are highly variable and often lack standardized training and development pathways. This panel presentation webinar introduces attendees to the Simulation Operations Needs Assessment Tool (SONAT), a validated framework for identifying and developing competencies in simulation operations. Panelists will discuss the origins, development, and real-world application of SONAT, from onboarding and performance reviews to professional growth. Through moderated questions, case examples, and live audience Q&A, the session will offer insights into how SONAT can drive clarity, consistency, and advancement in simulation operations to improve clinical education, training and performance outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the structure and purpose of Simulation Operations Needs Assessment Tool (SONAT), including the healthcare toolโ€™s core components and practical use cases, as presented by panelists.
  2. Interpret example findings from SONAT data, identifying common gaps in medical simulation operations competencies and their implications.
  3. Explore diverse clinical simulation program implementation strategies for using SONAT in onboarding, annual evaluations, and professional development based on panelist experiences.
