Abstract:
Join these presenters for an insightful CE webinar exploring how nursing student-led nursing simulations are reshaping nursing education. This CE session presents research on third-semester nursing students serving as standardized patients (aka simulated patients) and peer mentors in a mock hospital setting. The study reveals that student involvement significantly reduces stress, enhances critical thinking, and encourages reflective learning through personal experience. Nursing student participants reported feeling more comfortable and engaged when peers, rather than faculty, played patient roles. Learn how this innovative approach fosters deeper learning and improves performance for both clinical mentors and mentees. Discover practical strategies for implementing peer-led clinical simulations to create a more supportive and effective learning environment in nursing education.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the benefits of using nursing students as standardized patients and peer mentors in nursing simulation-based learning.
- Analyze how peer-led feedback influences stress levels and critical thinking in nursing students during healthcare simulation experiences.
- Explore strategies for implementing nursing student-driven healthcare simulations to enhance educational outcomes.
