Abstract:

The presenterโ€™s nursing simulation program achieved INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standard Endorsement in Spring 2024, reflecting their programโ€™s commitment to high-quality nursing education. Serving both prelicensure and graduate students across multiple campuses, the program has steadily expanded, guided throughout by the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice.

As the presenterโ€™s program grew and evolved, Endorsement became the natural next step. The Four Cornerstones of Best Practice provided the lens through which applicants examined their work, prompting a comprehensive review of policies, evaluation data, and curriculum design. The applicants also drew on INACSL resources to identify exemplars of healthcare simulation excellence that showcase the strength and impact of their program. This deliberate and structured process offered not only validation of what they do well, but also opportunities to enhance their practices and strengthen alignment with best standards.

This CE webinar will share the strategic planning, lessons learned, and insights gained throughout their Endorsement journey. Attendees will walk away with a deeper understanding of how the application process can serve as a valuable framework for reflection, improvement, and continued growth in academic simulation programs to improve clinical education outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define the Cornerstones of Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice and their application in clinical simulation programs.
  2. Identify key elements of the Endorsement application and how to best achieve them.
  3. Examine lessons learned from the Endorsement process towards clinical practice outcome improvement.
