Abstract:
Chronic high turnover rates in healthcare negatively impact healthcare organizations, causing substantial financial costs and disruptions to patient care, quality, and continuity. Traditional interview methods frequently prioritize clinical knowledge over interpersonal skills, making them ineffective at predicting long-term success. An “enhanced interview process” or “job audition” focuses on using a variety of methods such as clinical simulations, emergency response scenarios, communication exercises, and performance-based questions to better assess candidates within the interview process. The use of medical simulation scenarios including standardized patients and other modalities better showcases candidates’ skills and abilities. Rooted in established selection practices from industrial and organizational psychology, this approach improves the assessment of candidates’ readiness for the complexities of modern clinical environments. This webinar will highlight how to integrate innovative healthcare simulation techniques into a professional healthcare candidate selection and retention process for the clinical environment.
Learning Objectives:
- Compare traditional and innovative hiring process strategies in healthcare.
- Analyze new candidate selection techniques based on medical simulation best practices.
- Learn how to apply and evaluate simulation program outcomes to clinical professional retention goals.
