Abstract:

The fourth installment of the Professional Development Presentation Series for Clinical Simulationists, applies the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice: Simulation Design to the art of dissemination of simulation experiences through webinar or podium presentations. This session focuses on writing an effective abstract to communicate purpose, innovation and impact clearly within word limitations. Participants will explore key components of an effective abstract – title precision, problem/gap/hook framing, methodology clarity, and audience relevance. By session end, attendees will draft and refine an abstract ready for submission, enhancing their ability to showcase simulation research, operational innovation, and educational excellence at national and international conferences.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the five essential components (title, background, purpose, methods/innovation, and impact) of a high-quality conference abstract.
  2. Identify key phrases to improve clarity, conciseness, and alignment with submission requirements.
  3. Create a draft abstract for a future HealthySimulation.com webinar that includes a clear problem statement, methods or innovation summary, and anticipated outcomes.
