Abstract:
Immersive virtual reality (IVR) is rapidly becoming a transformative tool in health sciencesโ education, but many programs face barriers at the very first step: establishing the technical foundation. This CE webinar focuses on the nuts and bolts of IVR integration into clinical simulation educational and training programs, providing participants with a practical roadmap for hardware and software adoption. Healthcare Simulation operation specialists and educators will gain clarity on what headsets, computing systems, and space requirements are needed to successfully launch IVR. The presenters will also explore strategies for choosing the right software platforms, ensuring IT compatibility, and developing troubleshooting protocols. Lessons learned from multi-site implementations will be shared, with an emphasis on how to scale from small pilot projects to program-wide adoption. Participants will leave with actionable strategies for making sound technology decisions, planning for sustainable technical support, and addressing resource limitations all of which will provide for greater learning outcomes in nursing and healthcare education and training.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify essential hardware, software, and infrastructure requirements for IVR integration.
- Anticipate and prepare for common IT challenges when implementing IVR into nursing simulation or other clinical discipline simulations.
- Design a phased plan to pilot and scale IVR across nursing and healthcare programs to improve clinical outcomes.
