Abstract:

This CE webinar explores pedagogical integration, focusing on aligning Immersive Virtual Reality (IVR) scenarios with program outcomes, accreditation standards, and competency-based education frameworks. Drawing on examples and outcome data from a multi-site project, the presenters will discuss scaffolding IVR experiences across clinical education curricula, ensuring developmental progression, and preparing both healthcare students and faculty for success. Attention will be given to fostering psychological safety, onboarding healthcare simulation learners, and supporting faculty through structured training and resources. Participants will also explore strategies for balancing IVR with traditional clinical rotation and clinical simulation experiences to maximize learning impact.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Apply pedagogical principles to map VR scenarios to specific clinical education courses and program outcomes.
  2. Scaffold immersive Virtual Reality across the clinical simulation curriculum to support progressive competency development.
  3. Apply evidence-based strategies to onboard students and prepare faculty for Immersive Virtual Reality Clinical Simulation Experiences.
