Hello everyone, please post where you are working and what your role is in simulation. This may help someone in the group to reach out with questions….thanks. I’ll start, I work at Northern Michigan University in the School of Nursing. I was the simulation faculty lead for a few years but have now stepped back from that role. I do a lot…

    • I work for a local hospital system in Spokane WA in the Health Education department. We are unique because we provide prehospital courses, including EMT Basic, EMT Advanced and Paramedic. Although Pediatrics are a small portion of the EMS curricula, in the field, this patient population is definitely high acuity, low occurrence (HALO). I like…

      • @Carriexx55 That is great! I used to work in the hospital setting and taught NRP, PALS, and the STABLE program while I was there. It is great to get people on the same page with practice and also meet people from the outlying areas that come for the programs. Thanks

Happy New Year everyone! What is a simulation goal you are hoping to complete this year? Mine is to revise all of my sims to align with AACN Essentials for accreditation purposes. I’d love to hear what everyone else has planned for the year.

      • One simulation goal of mine is to create a pharmacology SAFMEDS deck for Paramedic students, linking the weekly deck to a simulation scenario.

        • @Carrie oh I love that idea! Have them ID meds, calculate safe doses for the peds patients, and then tie in with the scenario. Great idea :)

      • Well-child simulation

The semester has started and I just ran the first simulation of my pediatric clinical. For this simulation I have 6 short patient scenario’s that they need to follow in small groups of 2-3 students. All are kids coming to the “pediatric office” for a check-up of some sort. All my information is on their worksheets and they need to do HT, WT,…

      • Hello – I’m wondering who was able to go to INACSL and if you could share something you learned? I wasn’t able to attend this year. Thanks, look forward to hearing from everyone who was able to attend!

Hello everyone, my university is done for the semester, who else is looking forward to their summers? Are any of you working on any cool pediatric simulation projects this summer?

        • I am working on a post T&A surgery hemorrhage that presents in the ED for all our Network ED’s I will be going around Aug and Sept doing the simulations In-Situ in all the ED’s. 10 in all. It is based on an actual case that came into the ED’s. Just working on how to get the manikin to bleed orally now.

          • @Stephanie that is a good one, hadn’t thought of that before! I am currently working on an anaphylactic sim for high school students to do at a summer camp.
