Abstract:
Radiographers and nurses collaborate frequently during critical moments in patient care. However, these disciplines rarely have opportunities to practice collaboration before entering professional practice. Ineffective communication and poor collaboration can negatively impact patient outcomes and compromise patient care. This CE webinar showcases how targeted interprofessional simulations, such as NG tube verification and intraoperative โoff-countโ scenarios, strengthen communication, clarify roles, and deepen mutual understanding between the two disciplines. Presenters will explore practical strategies for designing, facilitating, and debriefing shared simulations that enhance teamwork, clinical integration, and learner confidence. Attendees will leave with actionable approaches to implement or expand radiography and nursing collaboration within their own programs.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify key interprofessional communication and role-integration challenges commonly experienced between radiography and nursing during critical patient-care scenarios.
- Describe the essential components of designing and implementing true interdisciplinary simulations to promote effective teamwork and shared clinical reasoning.
- Apply evidence-based strategies to develop or enhance nursing and radiography simulation activities that improve collaboration, clarify scopes of practice, and strengthen learner confidence in real-world clinical settings.
