This CE webinar explores the role of clinical escape rooms in team-building interprofessional education among medical students, residents, and nurses. Participants played in teams of three to solve case-based scenarios designed for four clinical specialties. Survey results showed that 80% strongly agreed the activity improved teamwork, while many reported enhanced critical thinking and decision-making. Therefore, escape rooms in medical simulation are a promising tool for interprofessional training, offering an immersive platform to encourage a collaborative approach to work.
Selina leads the simulation education and research team at the only SSH accredited simulation center in Pakistan, the Centre for Innovation in Medical Education at the Aga Khan University. With a background in Internal Medicine, STEM Education and Entrepreneurship, she now dedicates her full time to increasing the utilization of SBE in low-resource settings and crafting innovative ways to apply SBE in healthcare and other disciplines. Her research interests include gamification and distance simulation.
Rafia Durrani is an aspiring surgeon and a passionate medical educator and simulationist. She is currently working as a Simulation Education Analyst at Aga Khan University Karachi where she is actively involved in simulation research and faculty development courses in simulation-based medical education. Her work centers around designing impactful simulation experiences teaching debriefing skills and promoting psychological safety and reflective learning across healthcare teams. Dr. Durrani has presented her research at various national and international conferences.
